Robert Ben Bradshaw

On January 7th, 2019, Robert Ben Bradshaw, known to all his family and friends as simply “Ben”, passed away at the age of 77.

Ben was born on February 27th, 1941, to Douglas “Buzz” and Myrle Bradshaw in the small town of Wendell, Idaho. Growing up, Ben enjoyed horseback riding, hunting and the wide-open spaces of Idaho with his brother Doug. He graduated Kemper Military School and completed his business degree at the University of Idaho, where he met his future wife, Sara Galloway. Upon graduation, Ben received his commission as a 1st lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served in Okinawa until returning in 1966. It was then that Ben co-founded the California based Bradshaw food brokerage business, which was to become a thriving international company that continues to grow today. He was a member of the American Legion and active with the Indian Wells Country Club. As an enthusiastic outdoorsman, Ben also served on the board of directors of the Idaho Foundation for Parks and Lands, and enjoyed supporting the organization.

Robert Ben Bradshaw is survived by mother Mryle Bradshaw, brother Douglas John Bradshaw, daughter Jill Elizabeth Pillsbury, son Brett Robert Bradshaw, grandsons John Taylor Pillsbury, Charles Davis Pillsbury, Rex Stephen Bradshaw, Archibald Knight Bradshaw and granddaughter Audrey Elizabeth Pillsbury.

Services will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Ketchum, Idaho; on Saturday January 26th at 1:00 pm.

I joined the Bradshaw organization - then Bradshaw-Welles - in 1971, transferring to the Northern California division four years later. Like his father Buzz and brother Doug, Ben displayed daily those leadership qualities that helped establish Bradshaw Incorporated - North as the preeminent food broker and merchandiser in that highly competitive market. His business intellect, fairness, and high ethics, combined with an infectious optimism and sense of humor helped shape me in ways that benefitted me for the next 35 plus years of my career in the food business. I will never forget him, and the world is surely a lesser place with his passing. My sincerest condolences to the entire Bradshaw family for their loss. Rest in peace, Ben.

I will miss Ben's great smile, laugh and sense of humor. As a younger cousin, I always looked up to Ben. May good memories help you through this very trying time. My thoughts and love are with you. Carol Stranahan

As a 1959 classmate from Wendell High School, Bennie was a joy to us all as he was unpredictable and so much fun to be around. His loss will be a light gone out at our 60th High School Reunion this summer and his gracious smile missed so much. Ben, thanks for good memories and condolences to your family.
