Obituary

On Saturday, November 7th, 2020, Katherine Peggy Pleasants of Sun Valley Idaho passed away unexpectedly at age 60.

Katherine was a rare soul. Deeply kind-hearted, she shared her positive energy and warmth with those whose lives she touched. Born in Sherman, Texas on May 8th, 1960. The Pleasants family moved to Anchorage Alaska shortly afterwards. Katherine graduated Dimond High School and moved to Sun Valley to attend college at Idaho State in 1979. In 1991 she married the love of her life Robert Smet of Belgium. Katherine and Bob shared a passion for travel, exploring the world together and living for a time in Knokke-Heist on the Belgian coast. Both were drawn to the natural beauty of Sun Valley, settling there amongst a strong community of friends and neighbors.

An avid biker, hiker, skier and snowshoer, Katherine was happiest on outdoor adventures. She was a well-respected yoga instructor at the YMCA and the Sun Valley Hotel where her teachings helped others heal and connect. A beautiful spirit and devout member of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, Katherine was an exceptionally compassionate person who volunteered with Healing Hands and practiced Reiki. Katherine led a life of joy and service. She will be missed by all her many friends.

Katherine was preceded in death by her husband Robert Smet, her father Mr. Barron Pleasants and recently her beloved mother Mrs. Lily Pleasants. She is survived by her sister Grace Pleasants of Girdwood, Alaska. PO Box 983, Girdwood, Alaska 99587. A memorial service will be planned for Katherine at a later date.

I was so saddened to read about Katherine's passing. I had the privilege of meeting Katherine while on vacation in Sun Valley. I so enjoyed getting to know her even in the short week that I was there. Katherine left a big mark on my heart and helped me in yoga and reiki sessions. We talked a lot about the love of her life and the simple times in life that make us all so happy. I'm so very sorry for all her friends and family.

This is very sad news. Katherine was a light, this gives new meaning to Namaste. May a golden ring of positive energy surround her & her husband on the other side of the veil. She spoke fondly of him, I’m sure he is elated to have her with him again. Thank you for the time & energy you shared with those of us who knew you here on earth, you truly were an angel.

Katherine was an incredible woman with an incredibly compassionate and kind heart. Yoga was her way. This is very sad news to learn that she’s passed through the veil, at that, I have no doubt that her husband is happy to have her with him again. She spoke very fondly of him. I am saddened to find out Katherine is no longer here on this earth. I worked with Katherine at the Sheepskin Coat Factory years 23 years ago. She had such a charismatic way about her, her smile, kindness, and pleasant attitude would just light up the room and my day. We made so many memories and she will be deeply missed. My thoughts and love go out to her sister and friends.

Our condolences to Katherine's family and friends. We were Indian Springs neighbors in Sun Valley. She was such a sweet and gentle soul - always so kind and friendly to talk to in the neighborhood & around Sun Valley. We all will miss her friendly smile and sweet disposition. She truly made Sun Valley a better place. Rest in peace, Katherine. The Marshalls
