Obituary

Carla Ann Roche’ was born on Feb. 12, 1943 in Lynwood, California and passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center at 2am on Dec. 23, 2019.

She has been a resident of the Wood River Valley since 1977.

Over the 42 years she was here: she has worked at the Western Cafe in Ketchum, she did room service at the LIFT Motel, and she worked for Zodiac Expressions of Sun Valley as a glass blower making glass oil candles. After a short break she moved on to working at Atkinson’s in Bellevue until her COPD got to be too much for her.

She is survived by her daughter Cristy Face of Grangeville, Idaho; her son Alan Timothy Burke of Brooksville, Florida; her daughter Carry Burke Brown of Yreka, Calif.; and her son Adam Spiking of Hemet, Calif. She is also survived by her sister Gayla Roche’ Kilbride of Brooksville, FL, a half-sister Lori Roche’ Ebert and a half -brother Randy Clifford Roche’.

Carla’s last wishes as told to her sister was, “Tell everyone I love them.”

My big sis, Carla Roche', and her little dog, Sprinkle. I love that photo of them in their big, comfortable chair at home in Hailey, Idaho. Carla loved animals with a fierce passion, much like our father, Wilbur C. Roche'. She has left me with vivid memories of her strong beliefs, opinions and passions. I just wish that I could call her now to hear her voice. We didn't always agree, but she was respectful and usually agreed with me on our world views. She gave me my nieces and nephews who are actually closer in age to me than she was, so they have become more like my little brothers and sisters whom I love very much. Carla will be missed by many, and will not be forgotten. Love, Lori Roche'

You were such a quiet figure at times, I never knew you blew glass!! I remember when I was small, we'd go to Alvera Street and I'd go see all the glass blown figurines. Not quite the same thing but I looked forward to it. I will miss your gentle ways, Carla.
